  31. |       When you register, you will receive a disk (specify format, 3 1/2"   |
  32. |       or 5 1/4") with the latest version. This entitles you to phone       |
  33. |       and mail support. Plus you receive update notices and bug            |
  34. |       reports. The serialized disk will not be copy protected, but         |
  35. |       it will be for your own personal use (and is not to be               |
  36. |       distributed to others).  Your registration will also entitle you     |
  37. |       to one additional free update when a new version comes out.          |

  43. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  45. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  46. before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
  47. using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
  48. differ on details -- some request registration while others
  49. require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With
  50. registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue
  51. using the software to an updated program with printed manual.

  53. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software,
  54. and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
  55. exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
  56. programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are
  57. of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs
  58. and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of
  59. distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
  60. and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a
  61. specific group. For example, some authors require written
  62. permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their
  63. Shareware.

  66. should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
  67. whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
  68. fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.

  80. quential, which may result from the use of PixFolio."

  82. PixFolio is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  83. to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
  84. friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
  85. another system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to
  86. provide personal computer users with quality software without
  87. high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to

  91. useful and find that you are using PixFolio and continue to use
  92. PixFolio after a reasonable trial period, you must make a reg-
  93. istration payment of $25.00 to Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software).
  94. The $25.00 registration fee will license one copy for use on any
  95. one computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just
  96. like a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any
  97. number of people and may be freely moved from one computer
  98. location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it
  99. being used at one location while it's being used at another.
  100. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the
  101. same time.

  103. Commercial users of PixFolio must register and pay for their
  104. copies of PixFolio within 30 days of first use or their license
  105. is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made by con-
  106. tacting Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software).

  108. Anyone distributing PixFolio for any kind of remuneration must
  109. first contact Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software) at the address above
  110. for authorization. This authorization will be automatically granted
  111. to distributors recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines
  112. for shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin offering
  113. PixFolio immediately (However Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software) must
  114. still be advised so that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with
  115. the latest version of PixFolio.).

  117. You are encouraged to pass a copy of PixFolio along to your
  118. friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their
  119. copy if they find that they can use it.  All registered users
  120. will receive a copy of the latest version of the PixFolio
